Quebec City, February 5, 2024 – Lawyers Without Borders Canada (LWBC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Véronique Lamontagne as the organization’s new Executive Director.
Ms. Lamontagne, who specializes in human rights, access to justice and migration, has an impressive career in international legal cooperation and urban diplomacy to her credit. She has successfully undertaken numerous assignments for Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and the UN, contributed to the establishment of the Mayors Migration Council, and until recently, served as Director of the International Relations Bureau for the City of Montreal. Alongside her notable achievements, her passion for inclusion issues and her ability to navigate complex environments make her the ideal person to lead the organization through this new chapter in its history.

Véronique Lamontagne will assume her new role in mid-March, bringing her strategic vision and mobilizing leadership to Avocats sans frontières Canada. In the meantime, Karine Ruel will continue to act as interim Executive Director. LWBC would like to express its deep gratitude to Ms. Ruel for her professionalism and the quality of her work during this important period of transition for the organization.
